Posted by Amanda   Date: Tuesday December 20th   Topic: Gift Ideas, Gotta Have It, Shoes and Apparel, Shopping Tips

With five days remaining until Christmas, we can assume that the majority of the people have finished their holiday shopping. I say “majority” because I know that not all people carefully select a gift, purchase it ahead of time, and have it neatly wrapped under the tree. (Don’t worry, I’m really speaking to just my husband here.) Research shows that 10% of people wait until the week prior to Christmas to begin shopping. They are called procrastinators.

For those people, there are still online shopping deals. Although to guarantee arrival by Christmas, you will have to pay extra for the shipping costs. It’s the price that you pay for the extra wait, I guess. Here are the top remaining deals for this holiday for the procrastinators. Hurry though, these deals are expiring soon.

Perfumania- 10% off your entire fragrance purchase (code edeals)

Yet Another Great Shoe Site

I am the kind of person who knows what they like right away. If I have to take time to pause and ponder a purchase while shopping, I can almost guarantee that the item will be returned or unused. While shopping this week, I found these beauties:

Instantly, I knew that I loved them and would have them forever. They were the Birdie high heeled oxfords by Born and they weren’t on sale for $115. While I only made a small grimace at the price, my credit card quickly made these shoes mine. Only after returning home, did I begin to ponder their price. Did my impulse buy cost me more in the long run?

Gifts for the Not So Special Someone

Posted by Amanda   Date: Thursday December 8th   Topic: Gift Ideas, In the News, Shopping Tips

The list just seems to grow each and every day.

  • mail carrier
  • garbage man
  • baby sitter
  • recycling guys
  • teacher(s)
  • hairstylist
  • dog groomer

What list, you may be saying? This is my holiday list for the not so special someones. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that I don’t truly enjoy these people and appreciate their services. I find that it is hard to show your gratitude to them through gifts during this time of the year simply because of the lack of deep personal connections. It’s simply harder to come up with a gift idea. Thankfully, it’s the thought that counts when giving gifts.

Top Toys This Year

Posted by Amanda   Date: Monday December 5th   Topic: Gift Ideas, Gotta Have It, Shopping Tips

Prepare yourself: the hot toys of 2011 are so hot that they might just be a challenge to find this year. Arm yourself with knowledge and rush out to find these toys.

1) FIJIT Friends

FIJIT Friends by Mattel is one popular toy among girls, and some boys. How do I describe this toy? It is the kid version of Siri on the newest iPhone 4S. This interactive toy tells jokes, responds to your questions, and dances to music. (Okay, Siri doesn’t really dance.) There are four different FIJIT friends in varying colors. This toy will appeal to kids from the ages of six to ten. If you can find these in the stores, they will retail for $39.99. Due to high demand, the FIJIT’s are being sold on Amazon for $45 to $75.

Ship For Free

Posted by Amanda   Date: Wednesday November 30th   Topic: Gotta Have It, Shopping Tips

I braved the wild crowds on Black Friday. Dodged anxious shoppers and fought off shopping exhaustion with massive amounts of caffeine. When I drug myself home, I surveyed my purchases and gave a big sigh. It seems that all of my deal shopping only made a partial dent in my long Christmas gift list. It was a bummer to learn that I needed to head back out for more shopping. Being a savvy consumer, I turned to the web for online shopping. So easy and quick, I completed my list in a matter of minutes. Why didn’t I do this before?

It seems that I’m not the only one who loves online shopping. The National Retail Federation’s 2011 Holiday Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey states that 37% of all holiday shopping tasks will occur online. They go on to state that 46.7% of respondents say they’ll purchase holiday items online this season. With more and more deals found via the web, these numbers will continue to rise as people learn of the ease and efficiency of online shopping.

To help online shoppers out, a special day has been created just for them. It is called Free Shipping day. This day will fall on December 16th for 2011. Free Shipping Day is a one day, online shopping event when thousands of merchants offer free shipping with guarnteed delivery by Christmas Eve. Yippee! Roughly 1400 merchants have signed up to participate in this fourth annual event so far.

If putting off your holiday purchases until 12/16 bothers you, there are plenty of great websites that offer free shipping throughout the holidays. Here is a list of some of the merchants offering free shipping on all purchases in December:
